It’s been about 2 months since I’ve arrived in this sprawling city of Beijing. I find myself keeping quite active with exploring and meeting some great people. Though, I continually wish for a more walkable city and more manageable scale. I wonder how long it will take me to fully adjust, or if I will. The subway system is very convenient, but it still takes longer than your ‘typical’ subway system to get from point A to point B.. this is no London, Hong Kong, Boston, or NYC..that’s for sure. There are smaller scale neighborhoods within this expansive city that I have yet to explore, it’s just a matter of planning it out and making the time and effort to go. I am quite used to doing things on a whim, in terms of my daily activities, and I’m finding myself needing to adjust and plan because of distance and time. I have a bike to get around the school campus and neighborhood, but a city-wide bike rental system, like the one about to launch in Denver, Colorado would be wonderful! Beijing next, please :)

A collaboration between Humana, Trek, and ad house Cripsin Porter + Bogusky, B-Cycle will soon be launching in Denver, with expansion plans in the works. Simply walk up to the B-station kiosk, pay, grab a bike, and go — you can drop off the bike at any other B-station with an empty dock.
